Hi everyone
These days we are testing the various surfaces of the aluminium parts. We are using aluminium for many parts of Sitpack Zen. For some of the parts we use different production processes - which can give different feel and look.
Our goal is to get the same surface on each of the parts. This is not an easy task, as each part will be pre-treated before the anodizing will begin. The pre-treatment will decide the “texture and feel” before the anodizing process will give them the desired matte finish. To see which combination makes the least difference, we are testing different types of stone tumbling, glass and sand blowing of the parts. Tubes are being extruded, and this process will always result in extrusion lines down the tubes. By anodizing the tubes these lines disappear. The wings are stamped out of sheets of Aluminium and the top part is “deep drawn”. We are doing our best to get the texture and feel alike on all parts. More samples will arrive from the factory during March, and we are looking forward to touch and feel, and sharing with all of you.

We are moving forward with tests and preparations for production. This time the seat production is in focus. The seat is a tricky thing to make. It has to be light, maneuverable and have crazy longevity.
The Kevlar straps are attached only at the bottom of the first tube, and essentially this attachment has to hold your weight. Weight will naturally be distribution to the wings, but the majority of the force will be at the attachment.
So, these days we are putting a variety of attachments to the test. As you see on the pictures below – we have made big transparent polycarbonate "but", to simulate all kind of hardcore sitting pressures.
Luckily, the machine is more hardcore at sitting than the average or above average user. These test give us a good amount of data to analyse and pinpoint weaknesses of various parts and upgrade these with our manufacturing partner.
